The Level 4 Programme Headstart for Employment is designed to support individuals in increasing their competencies related to employment. Through a combination of units, coaching sessions, and simulated work practice, the programme equips individuals with the necessary job skills and helps them understand workplace ethics.

Whether you’re applying for your first job or working toward greater independence, the Headstart for Employment program equips you with practical, everyday skills that truly matter. From crafting a standout CV and preparing for interviews, to budgeting, using public transport, and building digital confidence, we focus on what employers value and what makes life easier day to day.
Each module is designed to help you grow in confidence, develop useful habits, and build the foundation for a brighter future, at work and beyond.
Module 1:
Job Search Skills
Learn how to write a CV, apply for jobs, and ace interviews with confidence.
Module 2:
Holistic Wellbeing
Understand how lifestyle, mental health, and daily habits impact your wellbeing.
Module 3:
Work Ethics
Build respect, professionalism, and positive behaviour for the modern workplace.
Module 4:
Basic Finance
Master everyday money skills like budgeting, saving, and making smart choices.
Module 5:
Basic Computer Skills
Get comfortable with computers—emails, data entry, and essential tech tools.
Module 6:
Basic English
Improve your reading, writing, listening, and speaking for work and daily life.
Module 7:
Independent Living
Develop the life skills you need to live more independently and make decisions.
Module 8:
Work Practice
Put your skills into action with hands-on experience in a real work environment.
Is Headstart Right for You?
This programme is ideal if you meet these entry requirements:

Are aged 16 or older

Have a Level 3 qualification (e.g., Secondary School Leaving Certificate) or equivalent through prior learning

Are registered on the National Register for Persons with Disability

How the Programme Works
A structured, supportive pathway to employment and independence.

Duration: 800 total learning hours (100 per module)

400 hours contact time (50 per module)

160 hours supervised work placement and practice hours
-
160 hours self-study (20 per module)

80 hours assessments (10 per module)

Format: Fully in-person, interactive learning. The units will be taught through a combination of lectures, seminars, discussions, practical sessions, case studies, simulations, group work, and video presentations.
